Split Adventure - A Split Payment App
Introduction
My project was to create an end to end application. I conducted research and found that users preferred to go on adventures when traveling and wanted a way to book and split the payment of adventures when booking in a group. With that in mind I began to create an app for my users. I worked in the role of a UI/UX designer as a student in UXA Designlab.
Research
I first did a competitor feature analysis research to get a better understanding of the topic. Then I continued my research by conducting interviews. Some questions I asked were, “What do you like to do for fun? What are your hobbies? Is it usually with friends or by yourself?”, “If there’s one thing you could change that would make booking experiences online easier, what would it be?”

Define
I decided to then create a user persona to understand who I’m designing for more clearly. Now with a clear user in mind I created a sitemap.

Design
Knowing what I wanted to create in mind, I then created basic sketches and wireframes. My favorite part of the design process was creating the low & hi-fidelity wireframes. I enjoyed seeing it come all together. I enjoyed finding a problem and then creating a solution.

Test
With my hi-fidelity wireframes done, I then created a prototype. I ran a usability test to evaluate my design. The insight from testing, contributed to my final designs.

Reflection
Through my iterative approach, I validated my hypothesis that users prefer a lifestyle app that helps them discover new experiences. One of my initial challenges was wanting to create something that could help as many people as possible. My mentor guided me to focus not only on designing something useful but also on building something I’m passionate about. This project taught me how to analyze different platform features, prioritize key elements in app design, draw inspiration from various sources, and continuously refine my designs based on user feedback.
